The Friendship Fire Company of Bressler is one of five fire companies
in Swatara Township. Which is located in central Dauphin County,
Pennsylvania. Swatara township is about 17 square miles with about
25,000 residents. Bressler is located in the far corner and is only
about a half-mile wide by a mile long. Which is mainly all residential.
We average about 400 calls a year covering our township and also
many neighboring boroughs and townships. |

Middletown Boro.
Air 41 assisted Middletown Boro. with a second alarm house fire. The structure was fully involved upon arrival. Crews use a defensive attack to gain control, then extinguished the blaze. There was an extensive amount of overhaul that had to be done. Units remained on the scene for about 3 hours

Bressler,Swatara Twp.
An early afternoon accident sent two people to the hospital when their vehicle travel through a yard and over an embankment resting in a creek. Crews stabilized the vehicle and assisted EMS with removal of the patients.

A chimney fire was dispatched on Main St. Crews found heavy smoke from the chimney. The flue pipe was already removed as the homeowner was checking for blockage. There was no extension into the house. |

Swatara Twp.
An early
afternoon chimney fire was discovered by a passer by. Engines
41 & 49, Rescue 49 and truck 50 were dispatched to the scene.
Crews checked the for extension and found none.The fire stayed
contained to the flue.

Lower Swatara Twp.
Steelton
fire dept was looking for a source of a smoke condition in the
boro. Meanwhile box 59 (Lowers Swatara Twp.) was dispatched
for working structure fire at the Penn Harris Gun Club. An engine
relay was set up due to the secluded location of the club. Air
41 was dispatched to the scene to assist. |

A
severe ice storm hit the harrisburg area causing a large amount
of damage. Trees and power lines were brought down by the weight
of the ice. Crews were busy clearing roadways and handling downed
power lines throughout the township.

Smoke Detector Program Kickoff
As a result of the Nov 3rd incident. Our fire company has started
a smoke detector program. Members will be going door to door
installing smoke detector to any resident wishing one. Also
providing batteries and replacing them to any resident. This
program was made possible by donation. If you live in town and

Bressler , Swatara Twp.
An
early evening fire claimed the lives of two children ( 2yrs
& 18 months) and left a third (5 months) fighting for
her life. A small fire in a bedroom caused minor fire damage
but created enough smoke to fill the house. Firefighters and
EMS arrived on the scene & started CPR on the children.
Crews remained on scene for hours as investigators did a full

Rutherford, Swatara Twp.
An
early morning structure fire got awoke crews from Swatara Township,Paxtang
& Hummelstown. The fire was knocked down quickly. Air 41 set
up and provided lighting and filled cylinders.

Rutherford, Swatara Twp.
Air
41 responded to assist Company 45 with a train derailment in the
Norfolk-Southern Rutherford Railroad yard. There were no injuries
just a large fuel leak. Air 41 was used for lighting until the
incident was turned over to the rail yard. |

At
03:01am a vehicle accident with entrapment and fire was dispatched.
E41 was just backing in the station from a CO Alarm. Due to the
nature of the call E41 responded along with the box E49,R49 &
R44. E41 arrived to find the vehicle fully involved. A line was
stretched and the fire was knocked down. A single occupant was
found in the car.

27,2007 (Box 49-4)
Swatara Twp.
At
18:42 the box was dispatched for a kitchen fire on the fourth floor
with a burn victim. Crews from E41,E49, and Truck 50 arrive on the
floor with a smoke condition. The fire was out upon arrival. The
patient was very disoriented but no apparent burns. EMS was requested
to the floor to attend to the victim, which was transported to the
hospital, Ventilation was set up an photo's taken for the FM. |
